It is my distinct privilege to address you as the new Managing Director of Taiyo Koko Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.
As the world accelerates its transition toward a true circular economy, Taiyo Koko Malaysia stands at the forefront of this vital transformation. Our state-of-the-art facility here in the Gebeng Industrial Estate, Kuantan, is more than just a production site. It represents the heart of our innovative proven technology – a direct response to Malaysia’s environmental challenges and a cornerstone for modern advanced industries.
Our business is driven by two defining pillars that deliver meaningful, sustainable progress:
First is our direct contribution to Malaysia’s environmental protection. We strictly adhere to Malaysia’s environmental standards to provide proper treatment and recycling of desulfurized spent catalysts from oil refineries—a stream that previously faced processing challenges within the country. By doing so, we significantly mitigate local environmental impacts.
Second is the secure supply of critical minerals. Through our technological expertise, we recover essential rare metals such as molybdenum and vanadium from these desulfurized spent catalysts. This directly aligns with the strategic vision recently highlighted in the Joint Agreement between His Excellency Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia and Her Excellency Ms.Takaichi Sanae, Prime Minister of Japan, strengthening the resilience of critical minerals supply chains.

Taiyo Koko Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. is a subsidiary of Taiyo Koko Co., Ltd. who has been in existence since March 1949. Taiyo Koko Malaysia specializes in the recovery of molybdenum and vanadium from spent catalysts. Our facility in Gebeng, Pahang is the first of its kind in Southeast Asia with our Ako Plant being the nearest in terms of similar technology.
Our effort to provide the best solution for disposal of such difficult waste, while recycling its element is TAIYO KOKO’s testament to PROTECT AND CONSERVE our environment.
